Cheap Thrills: Fringe Holders!

If you follow a lot of beauty bloggers and makeup gurus, then you're probably already familiar with the Dariya Fringe Holders: They are scraps of some sort of material not unlike Velcro, which gently hooks onto the strands of your hair and keeps it in place without leaving any marks, It allows you to keep the hair out of your face while doing your makeup or whatevs.

When I first saw the fringe holders, I thought that they were cute and clever and that I wanted to get some. However, they were only available online quite frankly the markup seems a little unreasonable. I wasn't gonna pay PHP 200-400 + for bits of nothing when there were other cute ways of keeping hair in place.

However, while browsing the accessories display at Watson's last Saturday, I found these!

I must say,  people who are selling these are pretty blatant in the way they copied this product. (They included images from the original and even the original's website URL in their package. Lulz!)

But but but! Check out the price- a whopping  PHP 40- per pack of 2's. And just like the original, they have this in pink, blue and black, I don't really like black (yes, it's a classy color and everything but that's me) so I just got these 2.

I think the main difference (based on the product pics on the packaging) is that the edges of these fringe holders aren't rounded of and the way they're cut isn't so even or straight. Doesn't really bother me.  And if it does, I can just cut them that way myself.

Hope you enjoyed the weekend!

Cheap Thrill: The "Bunny-Ears" Headband and Vintage Love

I am a fan of everything vintage-y and retro. I can't explain it, that kind of stuff just appeals to me instantly. Just like this red polka-dot headband I got from Saizen (PHP 85.) It was love at first sight.
Isn't it cute? It reminds me of the headpiece those women in WWII motivational posters.
The bestie doesn't like it because it reminds her of Minnie Mouse. LOL

OC Behavior

I don't know about you guys but I actually find doing something repetitive comforting:

Murano heart necklaces.

pearl bracelets.

cellphone charms. Design first used here.

pearl headbands.

crystal headbands.

There's just one of this bracelet, but I've made something like it before but using another color scheme. I really like how this turned out, though. It looks really yummy and makes me think of berries.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hey, how are ya?

Hi guys. Wow! I've been on hiatus for a really long time, and I can't promise to post more frequently at least until next year. *crosses fingers* But how has everyone been?

I can't believe it's already Christmas next week. Jeez, I've been so out of it. Everyone done with their Christmas shopping? Silly question, right? Us girls are never done when it comes to shopping.

Anyway, been playing with the beads to de-stress.

silver charm bracelet. I love the color combination of pink and black.

Crystal cluster bracelet w/ gold lock and findings. I like this color combination, too.

Another version of the crystal cluster bracelet. No lock this time, just a stretchy cord.

Pearl cluster bracelet. The speckled pearl beads look like candy.

Happy holidays!

A Beauty Blunder + Quick & Cheap Fixes + New Bracelet

WARNING: TMI

I had some itchy spots on my face a few days ago. When I looked at the spot, they were kinda dry and flaky so I applied this type of solution I had (which I use to dry out occasional pimples and had never had a problem with before.)It kinda stung but it realy helped relieve the itchy feeling.

I guess I must have pressed too hard or used too much because shortly after, the skin around the spot turned black! Yikes!

Since I needed a quick fix, I picked these up at the convenience store.

Maxipeel Concealing Cream

This is a product in line with a skin peeling system. I guess it's comparable to tinted moisturizer. It promises to hide flaky skin (SO I REALLY SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THIS TO BEGIN WITH! Gah!) and has SPF, because peeling skin is highly sensitive to UV rays.

What it says on the box:
MAXIMUM BENEFITS:
* Effective CONCEALING- hides flakes in exfoliant-treated skin
* Significant Skin WHITENING- visible results in as early as 7 days
* Intense SUN-PROTECTION- packed with SPF 20
* Instant MAKE-UP BASE - for a polished on-the-go look

I guess you could call it BB Creams' poor relation.

Here's something else I picked up:
Eskinol Ice Poretherapy fluid

I got this because the cooling effect is really soothing to my chemically burned >_< skin but it promises other benefits, too. It promises to INSTANTLY minimize the appearance of a person's pores, just like the effect you'd get when you apply ice to your face.

It comes out of a squeeze tube as a gel-like substance but leaves a powdery finish when it dries on your face. It also promises to keep oil at bay for up to eight hours.

I have also heard good things (on GT) about this product's potential as a primer. I'll test that claim soon enough but for now, I'm happy with it.

UPDATE: My face is better now. All the old skin came off (Sorry for TMI). I'm surprised at how fast I healed but I'm not complaining, haha. No scars, but the new skin is a lot lighter than the rest of me.

Have you committed any beauty blunders? What was your quick fix?

In other news, I made another bracelet!

a closer look at the rose charm.

I used:
- antique gold chain
-antique gold toggle lock
-antique gold components
- AB glass crystals
-reddish brown rondelle crystals
- round glass pearls assorted colors and sizes
-cream glass seed pearls
- polymer clay rose charm

Note to self: Buy bigger chains. I ran out of ideas on what to put on each link to fill up the whole length of this chain!

Craft-y Post: Feathery Fascinator

Hi guys! How was your weekend?

Here's a fairly old pic I'd like to share with you. (Excuse the quality. It was on my cellphone.)

I made this around Lent. Mardi Gras time is very inspiring.

It's a fascinator.

I love vintage fashion. I like Edwardian and 20's flapper styles most of all.

It's made with wire so that it can follow the shape of any person's head, or any part of the head you choose to put it.

Behind the ear

other side

A snap-on clip on the bottom is used to attch it to the wearer's hair.

no makeup. been working hard.

Check this out. I haven't laughed this hard in ages.

Crafty Post: 3 in 1 band

I made this:

What is it?

It's a headband!

And a choker. In one!

(And yeah, I know the title of my post said it's a three in one thing, but I can't get a good picture of it as the third thing it can be. It can be used as a hippie band, which is a lot like a headband, but across your forehead. Ha-ha. My hair's really unruly.)

Hope all of you had a good weekend!

Craft-y Post: I made bracelets!

Hi guys! Thank you so much to the first couple of girls who dropped by my blog. I am so happy to meet all of you.

Anyway, I've been playing with my beads, and here are the things I came up with. ^^

This is the only one with a different style. Hehe. I love the colors on this bracelet. I don't know how to describe it.

What I used: silver-tone chain, silver-tone toggle, silver tone findings, cream and pale blue majorica pearls, AB glass beads, bright blue crystals, silver tone leaf charms.

The next couple of photos are stretchy pearl cuffs. These are all so easy to make and really a lot of fun. I love thinking up all sorts of color combinations.

1st combo: silver, pale blue, lavender.

2nd combo: baby pink, dark brown, copper.

3rd: lavender, light gold, medium gold, dark gold.

4th and my favorite: mint green, lime green, hot pink, baby pink.

I wanna get new beads, but the place where I get supplies is so far from where I live. Thanks for looking!

Craft-y Post: Dollface Bracelet

Vintage-y Craft: Dollface Bracelet

Here is something else that you can expect to find on my blog. It's not a shopping find, but something I crafted. I used glass marbles, various majorica pearls, antique gold puffed heart charm, and various metal tone findings. Doll-themed pics and text are from a magazine.

When I have more time, more ink on my printer and better skillz, I just might sell this kind of stuff, or accept MTO/Customization orders.
