Yes I Know These Are Hard Times

But is it hateful of me to want to quit my job? I love what I do and I like to think I'm good at it. And of late, aside from necessities and a few impulse buys, I've been squirreling my paychecks away for this very purpose. But I have a really strong sense of liberal guilt instilled within me, which nags at me and reminds me that there are people around me who would give a kidney for a job.

Because I do not work in the best environment, and lately they're going through some process which has been pissing everyone off. And because I've been really burned since about forever. I'm sick every month and I don't think I ever completely recover each time. I've had several health scares, My concentration's whack, and all I wanna do now is to crawl into a small hole and not come out for six months.

Once a hikikomori, always a hikikomori, I guess.

I Enjoyed Watching Fanboys

It's 1998. Linus, a die-hard Star Wars fan, has four months to live. The Phantom Menace comes out in six.So his three best friends and fellow Star Wars fans decide to go on a cross-country road trip to infiltrate the Skywalker Ranch in order to steal a rough-cut of the film. On the way, they pick fights with Star Trek fans, get into all kinds of scrapes. Celebrity cameos abound.

I'm not a big sci-fi geek or anything but I like to know things about movies and popular culture, so this movie was really for me. I found parts of it sweet and touching. Also Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars and Gossip Girl, herself) is a kind of hero of mine. (lol, geddit?)

I really loved the Star Wars fans vs Star Trek fans parts They're like, the Noranians and Vilmanians of Nerd World. Ha-ha.

I wouldn't know which side I'd be on, though. I loved Star Wars as a kid, but the most recent movies were just tragic. *cough*And someone I hate looks like Yoda*cough*

I don't know that much about Star Trek, either. But I'm curious about the original series. Because it's Shatner! And I love everything I've ever seen Shatner do. And Shatner is awesome! And I haven't seen the latest movie, but I've heard good things.

So what about you? Star Wars or Star Trek?

Good night!

What's With the Title?

Narcissus Flowers

People who know me in real life will always point out this habit that I have: I am constantly staring at my reflection.

They usually take it the wrong way. They think I'm conceited and in love with myself., but trust me. That's not why I stare.

It's more like how someone who witnesses a horrible accident can't look away. I used to think that if I stared at the flaws long enough, I would stop minding them so much.

A lot has changed since then, but I still have a long way to go.

This is a reflection of me, and my ultimate goal is to be like Narcissus. I am hoping someday, I would love what I see.

Crafty Post: 3 in 1 band

I made this:

What is it?

It's a headband!

And a choker. In one!

(And yeah, I know the title of my post said it's a three in one thing, but I can't get a good picture of it as the third thing it can be. It can be used as a hippie band, which is a lot like a headband, but across your forehead. Ha-ha. My hair's really unruly.)

Hope all of you had a good weekend!

Craft-y Post: I made bracelets!

Hi guys! Thank you so much to the first couple of girls who dropped by my blog. I am so happy to meet all of you.

Anyway, I've been playing with my beads, and here are the things I came up with. ^^

This is the only one with a different style. Hehe. I love the colors on this bracelet. I don't know how to describe it.

What I used: silver-tone chain, silver-tone toggle, silver tone findings, cream and pale blue majorica pearls, AB glass beads, bright blue crystals, silver tone leaf charms.

The next couple of photos are stretchy pearl cuffs. These are all so easy to make and really a lot of fun. I love thinking up all sorts of color combinations.

1st combo: silver, pale blue, lavender.

2nd combo: baby pink, dark brown, copper.

3rd: lavender, light gold, medium gold, dark gold.

4th and my favorite: mint green, lime green, hot pink, baby pink.

I wanna get new beads, but the place where I get supplies is so far from where I live. Thanks for looking!

Cute Thrifted Shoes!

I got these sweet flats at forty percent off at a thrift store on my way home. I don't take very good photos but I swear they're good as new.

I love flat shoes. I practically live in them now. With this dainty pair, I can be comfy but still look polished. This one's especially comfy as it's made from a kind of velvety fabric.

New TV Series: Drop Dead Diva

The Premise: A vapid, superfical model-wannabe dies and gets the chance to come back to life, but in the body of a newly deceased, brilliant size 16 lawyer.

A skinny hottie trapped in the body of a fatty? Sounds like a character a lot of us can relate to, right? I know I can. I lol'd at her reaction when she was told she'd live the rest of her (new) life as a plus-sized girl. "You sent me to hell?" Ha-ha.

There were mixed reviews. Some people were naturally pissed at the depiction of a fat girl as clumsy and as having an unhealthy relationship with food. Maybe not such a good show for someone who could take it personally. Ha-ha.

But then again, skinny girls like Debra Messing have played roles like these and were regarded as charming. I don't see why it should be any different for women of size.

Anyway, I downloaded and watched the first episode. It was pretty cute. It's not the most intelligent show out there, but I wouldn't mind killing 50 minutes a week watching it. I haven't been this interested in a show in a really long time. I think the main character is adorable. She's ditzy, but also super-smart when she wants to be, like a chubby Elle Woods complete with a signature strut. And I'm an FA at heart. I like girls who aren't stick-thin but are still hella pretty.

I mean, even though I want to be skinny myself, I have just never found ana-looking girls to be attractive. I find curvy girls hotter.

Also, Margaret Cho is in the cast. Such a funny gal, and one of the most size-positive people out there. I don't think she'll sign on to anything that would go overboard with the fat jokes. (Or gay jokes. Or racist jokes.) ^^

Let's end this post with some Margaret Cho quotes:

* And especially, especially, don't f--- with vegans. Do not look vegans in the eye. If you get into an argument with a vegan, say "I'm wrong", and run away as fast as you can. Do not f--- with vegans because they will f--- you up...BECAUSE THEY'RE HUNGRY.

* I love my gay male friends, but when I was a little girl I always used to wish that I would be constantly surrounded by gorgeous guys, and I am, and I should have been more specific.

* Thank God for gay men. Thank God for gay men, because if it were not for gay men, I would not talk to men at all.

* If I'm talking to a guy who's straight and cute and single, I'm like, "Are you a unicorn?"

* The first thing that you lose on a diet is brain mass.

* I knew I was crazy because I was watching Jesus Christ Superstar and the part where Jesus carries the cross up the mountain, I actually said to myself, "Wow! That must be a really good workout! Yeah, because you're doing arms and cardio!"

* [My gay child] would be a soldier, and he would change the slogan from "Don't ask, don't tell" to "Don't f--- with me, queen!!"

DON'T KNOW IF WANT

Forget Twilight for a sec. The Lost Boys always has been and always will be my favorite vampire movie. I have seen this movie like a gajillion times and I don't think I ever will get sick of it. Love the movie. Love the soundtrack. Love the Coreys and Kiefer Sutherland as David.

SO IZ HERD THERE IS SEQUAL. Anybody seen it? Seriously, how bad is it? I'm pretty sure it'll suck in comparison to the original, but still. I don't want anyone effing with a fond childhood memory.

I fail at being a girl

According to THIS SITE simply because:
1. wala akong abs.
2. laging may extra rice. (di naman lagi. pag special occasion lang or pag masarap talaga pagkain.)
3. hindi vegetarian.
4. various addenda.

It's funny, but I'm still butthurt. I mean, I have always prided myself on being kikay. I love cutesy things. But lately, I've become really apathetic when it comes to my appearance. I used to be unable to go out makeup-free, but now I do.

And while I still do certain girly things, it is only to avoid other girlier activities.
- Had my hair rebonded coz I can't fix my hair, and rarely blowdry before going out.
- regularly get manis and pedis as i can't do my own nails. nevermind do nail art.
- get facials and the like coz I don't have the discipline to follow a skin care regimen.

I don't even take pictures very often anymore. I miss camwhoring.

I hope it's just a phase. I want to be thrilled by makeup again. I want to be delighted by cutest things again. I miss making an effort to be adorable.

I've been secretly following certain beauty blogs around here. There are so many amazing kikay girls who are just inspiring. One of these days, I am going to get the nerve up to actually talk to them.
